Neil Mullane Finn OBE (born January 8, 1959 in Te Awamutu, New Zealand) is a singer and songwriter and one of New Zealand's foremost musicians.
Finn formed a new band called The Mullanes (Mullane being both his middle name and his mother's maiden name) with Split Enz drummer Paul Hester, guitarist Craig Hooper of The Reels and bassist Nick Seymour, younger brother of Hunters and Collectors leader Mark Seymour.
Both Finn and his brother were made OBE (Order of the British Empire) for services to New Zealand music in the 1993 Queen's Birthday Honours List.

Neil's lyrics, for me anyway, have the ability to stand alone as beautifully introspective poetry while both Andy's and Colin's words evoke themes on a grander scale (not to say that particular songs don't have the ability to touch me personally).
Neil Finn is a superb song writer, and like Andy and Colin, has that knack of communicating in words on a greater intellectual level than most song writers.
A plug for Neil here - Nettwerk Records is going to release the One Nil cd in April in the US and Canada - but it will be called  "One All" and will have some new songs on it to add some value for those who bought import One Nil's in N. America.

One Nil (2001) is the second solo album from Neil Finn, the man who honed his famous pop sensibilities in two legendary bands, the first being Split Enz and the second Crowded House.
This time, though, Finn takes a clear step back to what he knows best- writing melodies that stand out for their sheer beauty, rather than the work of a clever production team.
It wouldn’t be a Neil Finn album unless there was an instant classic, and ‘Turn and Run’ fills that role for One Nil.

For his second solo album, One All, former Crowded House frontman Neil Finn wanted to take a bit of a different approach to songwriting by working with some new collaborators, such as Wendy Melvoin and Lisa Coleman, as well as with traditional Finn cohorts Mitchell Froom and Tchad Blake.
