		Nekton is the grouping of living organisms that live in the water column of the ocean and freshwater lakes.
		The size and speed ranges of plankton and nekton mean that while plankton experience water as a viscous medium, often with reversible flows, the world of nekton is dominated by inertia (sustained vortices, coasting, etc.).
		The term "nekton" was coined in 1890 by Ernst Haeckel; it is rooted in the Greek word nÄ“ktÃ³n ("the swimming").

		This projects range from work in submerged aquatic vegetation examining landscape characteristics and their links to nekton communities and nekton growth; to studies along marsh edges examining edge morphology and nekton use, and a study examining nekton use of flat oyster reefs in coastal Louisiana.

	Nekton Rorqual
		The Nekton Rorqual was designed from the ground up specifically as a SCUBA diving Liveaboard for Nekton by SWACAT Technologies.
		The Rorqual was delivered into service for Nekton in the fall of 2001 and was built in Port St. Joe Florida at Gulf County Shipbuilding.
		The Nekton Rorqual's design includes one continuous strut on each side connecting the superstructure to the submerged pontoons that provide buoyancy.
