	Nelahozeves Castle, Czech Republic
		The massive Nelahozeves Castle is located near the village of Nelahozeves and to those interested in Classical music this town name may sound familiar.
		The building of Nelahozeves castle by Florian Griespek was started in 1572 and continued into the 17th Century.
		The castle is done in the neo Renaissance style and and has some very interesting 16th Century sgraffiti on several of the walls, fascinating woodcuts in the ceilings, and notable stonework on the portals.

		It was decided to award the 2000 Grant to Nelahozeves Castle in the Czech Republic for the restoration of the 16th century decorative sgrafitto plasterwork in the courtyard.
		After 1860 it was used as a military hospital and in 1874 a wing was converted for use as a boarding school for the daughters of noblemen.
		After World War II Nelahozeves Castle was taken over by the Czechoslovak State and adapted for use as a gallery.

		The monumental Renaissance castle of Nelahozeves is located in a small village, near Kralupy on the Vltava river in the central Czech region, known as the birthplace of Antonín Dvořák.
		Though the entry in the public registry from 1572 describes Nelahozeves as a “castle”, implying that the building was completed, the construction work was actually still in progress.
		Since the second half of the 1960’s, the outer castle structure was maintained, though the Lobkowicz farm was demolished during the general restoration of the area surrounding the castle.
