The city of Miramichi is located at the mouth of the Miramichi River and is the fourth largest city in the province.

Some or all could be found in the sediment of the Miramichi River and estuary, the river water itself, or the tissue of mussels, oysters, lobsters, eels, striped bass, white suckers, flounders, shad, gaspereau and salmon.

NW of Hayesville: named for the rapids in the Southwest Miramichi River: PO Hayesville 1889-1947: in 1904 Hayesville was a settlement with 1 post office and a population of 50: today it is a dispersed community.
E of Quarryville, on road to McKinleyville: Nelson Parish, Northumberland County: PO 1885-1954: in 1898 Doyles Brook was a farming, fishing and lumbering settlement with 1 post office and a population of 100: today it is a dispersed community.
NE of McNamee, on road to Doaktown: Ludlow Parish, Northumberland County: settled in 1809: PO 1890-1970: in 1898 Carrolls Crossing was a flag station on Canada Eastern Railway and a farming and lumbering settlement with 1 post office and a population of 75: today it is a dispersed community.

Chatham and Newcastle were twin towns on opposite sides of the spacious Miramichi River, with neighboring villages Nordin, Douglastown, Loggieville, and Nelson-Miramichi, all also situated along the beautiful river.
Newcastle and nearby communities were amalgamated in 1996 to form Miramichi City.
I think that this has something to do with Newcastle being more city-like in its distribution of homes and businesses and in its function as an administrative hub for the Miramichi region.

 History of St. Bridget's Parish, Renous, N.B.
Dollard made Bartibogue his headquarters until 1826 at which time he moved to St. Patrick's in Nelson and served the Miramichi region from there.
From 1823 until 1833 Renous and other parts of the Miramichi were served by Rev. William Dollard who was appointed resident missionary by Bishop Plessis of the Diocese of Quebec.
There were three churches, the home church of Renous Bridge, the church of our Lady of Mount Carmel at Cains River Forks, 13 miles distant, and a little mission church at Boiestown, 48 miles away.
