At about this time Prime Minister Shapour Bakhtiyar ordered the Ministry of Justice to prepare for a public trial of Hoveyda and General Nematollah Nassiri (former head of SAVAK).
General Nassiri, the former head of SAVAK, was savagely tortured by the mob and put in front of the television cameras beside General Rahimi before their executions a few days later by a firing squad.
Meanwhile Hoveyda remained alone and isolated in the guest house pouring himself another glass of whisky and swallowing a couple of valium tablets.
