Nemesis is based around a legend thought up by the Tussauds marketing department, a monster which was disturbed during routine maintenance work has created a large whole in the Staffordshire landscape.
It is partly due to the marvellous theming and storyline which make Nemesis so different to other roller coasters throughout the world, another dimension has been added to the ride by setting it deep in the ground and making the ride twist around the station, themed as the monster.
Nemesis is an inverted roller coaster, which means you board the ride underneath the track and your legs dangle freely, this sort of technology was pretty new when the ride was introduced in 1994, however now it is quite common for parks to have inverted coasters.

The coaster was to spark a phenomenon, as the so-called "Inverted coaster" was set to become one of the most popular designs in coaster history, sparking many other companies (such as Vekoma and Intamin) to try their hand at these fabulous coasters.
Even though their trio of inverted coasters (a lineup which included the world's only complete-circuit launched inverted coaster, Volcano: The Blast Coaster at Paramount's Kings Dominion) were much smoother than Vekoma's, and were indeed raved of as excellent coasters, BandM's perpetual domination of the Inverted coaster market means that Intamin's unique design is often overlooked.
The coaster is made using the same box-section track that BandM use on their coasters, but features two-across seating (as opposed to BandM's 4-across).

Nemesis Inferno was constructed for the 2003 season.
Although its name is pretty much all it shares in common with its sister ride, Alton Towers's Nemesis, Nemesis Inferno follows the tradition of excellent theme, proximity to the ground, and unique features that the original Nemesis started almost a decade before.
While most agree that Nemesis Inferno does not exactly live up to the fame and success as the original Nemesis, one must admit that for having to follow up what is quite possibly the best inverter in existence, Nemesis Inferno is doing quite well.
