		NEMI has selected what's called Sn3.9Ag0.6Cu, a tin-based alloy that replaces lead with 3.9 percent silver and 0.6 percent copper.
		For wave soldering, which uses more solder at higher temperatures, NEMI is suggesting two alloys: Sn0.7Cu, a tin-copper alloy with 0.7 percent copper, and Sn3.5Ag, which has 3.5 percent silver.

		At the beginning of the NEMI project, the primary information on the family of selected alloys was the way the composition affected alloy melting points.

		The NEMI team provided input to, and supported the development of, JEDEC standard JESD97: Marking, Symbols, and Labels for Identification of Lead (Pb) Free Assemblies, Components, and Devices, released in May of this year.
