Nemophila is a genus found in the flowering plant family Boraginaceae.
Nemophila species are mainly native to the western United States, though some species are also found in western Canada and Mexico, and in the southeastern United States.
Nemophila means “woodland-loving.” It comes from the Greek word nemos, which means "grove" and the Greek word philia, which means "loving".
Sun or partial shade and light, well-drained soil are recommended for nemophila.
Nemophila is hard to transplant, so it's best to sow seed as early as the ground can be worked, even if it's still 1 or 2 weeks before the last frost is due.
