Nissan'sVVL operates by using solenoids that kick the cams over to the larger lobes.
Also keep in mind that Nissan developed its NEOVVL to change inlet and exhaust camshaft phases at different rpm points to prvent that typical Honda lul in power delivery as the cams change.
I want to take the engine apart and use the Neo technology so we can have dual v's isntead of just doing the 00 intake manifold swap and having it just on the Intake, so now we can have exhaust variables to.
It would be practically impossible without Nissan putting it out at least in Japan for you to put VVL into a VQ.
I was merely stating (with some sarcasm obviously) that it would be easier swapping a sr20ve into a korean 4th gen max since it already has a SR20 block in it than to revamp and possibly reengineer the head of a VQ.
Combining cam-changing VVT and cam-phasing VVT could satisfy the requirement of both top-end power and flexibility throughout the whole rev range, but it is inevitably more complex.
Porsche’s Variocam Plus was said to be developed from the Variocam which serves the Carrera and Boxster.
Because the exhaust gas comprise of mostly non-combustible gas, such as CO2, the engine runs properly at the leaner fuel / air mixture without failing to combust.
They use the same concept of multiple cam lobes to provide a low rpm cam ideal for torque and a high rpm cam optimized for hp.

I'm not sure if it flows better than the intake manifold found on the B-15 but it sure looks better :p The design is similar (if not identical) to the one found on the NEOVVL QG18DE which makes slightly higher horsepower than the one found on the Sentra.
Correct, the qg18de in japan and a few other markets are labeled as the NEO qg18de, NEO being something about clean air sufficient.
10-12-2004 10:59 AM You're right Mike and pugnex their is no NEOVVL only a NEO QG18DE thanks for the correction.

the NEO is just something Nissan plasters on all their cars,,, it's Nissan Ecology Oriented....but there's no VVL QG18DE.

Automotive Forums.com Car Chat - SR16VENEOVVL problem **Please Help**
I'm not sure what difference the oil type makes for that specific application, but i'd check the oil level, to be sure.....most "VTEC" activation systems have hydraulic components, meaning they operate off the engine's oil pressure, as you mentioned.
There has never been a single fatality from speeding, it is the stopping part that counts!
1.6 liter NeoVVL 175hp non-turbo, complete swap w/trans, harness, ECU, MAF, suspension, front brakes, cluster, $2400 in stock.
I too was wanting to do a vvl swap I have a 96 and when I asked a local shop there exact answer was Ive never heard of that motor and you dont know what your talkin about
I was trying to find a way to keep my cost down with getting decent power.
Thanks again and if anyone else knows anything about this please don't be shy....
the neovvl head from the sr16ve will fit on a sr20de but not a ga. the sr16 is built kinda like a honda engine...meaning that the sr16ve is just a debored/destroked..or both version of the sr20ve.
SR20DET GTI-R : LARGE top mount intercooler with 8.3:1 compression with 440CC injectors, Induvidual throttle body (ITB) and as bigger power output then the U12-U13.
Has a VVL that controls valve lift and duration, the swap is not quite hard and is explained on this link : SR20VE swap
