In the meeting, leader of opposition in the National Council Madhav Kumar Nepal, opposing the act of dissolving the House of Representatives, expressed the view that his party had demanded the formation of an all-party government because the elections would not be impartial under the leadership of premier Girija Prasad Koirala.
Expressing their unanimity that reinstating the dissolved House of Representatives would be justifiable, the statement expressed the view that the government under the person whose resignation had already been accepted and who was charged with abusing his position did not have the authority to hold elections.

The ruling CPN-UML and opposition Nepali Congress (NC) are "reaching a consensus" for House revival, said leaders of the two parties.
He argued that the announced polls in 2002 were postponed owing to escalating Maoist violence, the same could not be done now when the situation is "hundreds of times" worse.

The same United Nations committee which successfully pushed Nepal to legalize abortion in 2002, has also demanded that imprisoned abortionists who committed abortion prior to its legalization and the mothers who aborted their children prior to the legislation be released.
The Nepalese representatives apologetically noted that while the law to allow abortion was passed it took some time before the procedures were approved.
The representative assured the UN committee that "Cabinet had now approved the procedures and those were in place." The representative was not prepared however to assure the UN that those in prison for abortion related offences would be released.
