The urkema peak is to be renamed to the memory of the late Powell on the occasion of the centenary celebrations of the founding of the scouts movement.
Ram Gopal Karmacharya, National Secretary of Nepal Scouts, expects that since climbing a mountain or a hill also constitute one of the adventurous activities of the scouts, a lot of scouts from across the world would come to Nepal to scale the mountain to be named to the memory of their founder.
Nepal scout requested His Majesty’s Government for naming any one of the mountain peaks in Nepal after Baden Powell in accordance with a proposal endorsed at the Asia and Pacific Region Conference of the scout held last October in Daresalaam, Brunei.

Yankila Sherpa, former President of Trekking Agents Association of Nepal (TAAN), has been appointed as State Minister for Culture, Tourism and Civil Aviation as per the Article 127 of the Kingdom of Nepal 1990, this was stated in a communiqué issued by the Press Secretariat of His Majesty the King on December 7, 2005.
Nepal is to name one of its new mountain peaks after Lord Baden Powell to honour the father of the world scouts movement.
National Commissioner of the Nepal Scouts, Shreeram Lamichhane believes that this new step taken by Nepal would help a great deal in introducing Nepal to the outside world in the context of the number of scout members reaching some 35,000,000 in over 200 countries at present.

Nepal's civil war has allowed poachers to threaten the one-horned Asian rhinoceros, one of the world's most endangered species.
Last November two rangers, two game scouts and a driver were killed by a Maoist landmine in the adjoining Parsa Wildlife Reserve.
In 1973 there were only 100 in Nepal, but by 2000 the figure had risen to more than 600, with 544 in Chitwan and about 1500 in India, making a world population of 2100.

Nepal's Royal Chitwan National Park is home to one of the largest remaining populations of the greater one-horned rhino (Rhinoceros unicornis).
WWF Nepal has been providing support for the translocation of rhinos to establish new viable populations in other protected areas of the country.
Thanks to conservation projects developed by the King Mahendra Trust for Nature Conservation, His Majesty's Government of Nepal's Department of National Parks and Wildlife Conservation, the Biodiversity Conservation Network, and WWF, Nepal is now home to over 600 rhinos, with Royal Chitwan National Park having the second-largest population in the world.

After New Jersey's Supreme Court ruled against the Boy Scouts in a decision that was later reversed in Dale, Connecticut began to examine whether the Scouts' policy against admitting gays made it ineligible for inclusion in the charity campaign.
The action was still permissible, the court found, because it did not compel the Scouts to change their policy, but merely made them "pay a price" for continuing the policy.
