By 1886, guns were in place at Fort Nepean and in 1888, the battery at Eagles Nest was erected as well as the new barracks at Fort Nepean.
Fort Nepean was known in the 1880s as Victoria's 'Gibraltar' and in 1890 it was reported that Melbourne was the best-defended commercial city of the British Empire.
Today the fortifications on Point Nepean and Fort Nepean in particular, are regarded as unique examples of the crucial role coastal defence played in protecting the Australian colonies of the British Empire.

 Nepean Dam
Both the dam itself and the tourist's picnic and lookout areas are on a more modest scale than the other dams, but the Nepean has a special quality of its own which makes it as an interesting place to visit, or to take the family.
The Nepean is the most easily accessible of the dams, being just a kilometre or so off the freeway, and a few kilometres from Bargo.

Nacional Atletico Clube is one of the oldest soccer clubs in Brazil and is well known for its focus on developing players, including such names as Brazil's National Team Captain Cafu, Barcelona's Deco, and Stuttgart's Cacau.
The girls continued with their winning ways with a string of great performances in the Ottawa Royals Tournament (Sept 8 and 9), netting a fourth tournament medal this season in the U-14 Premier A division.

 JCU - The Nepean Observatory
The Nepean Observatory was funded from a special Federal Government grant and from matching funds from UWS Nepean.
The observatory was the brain-child of the Head of the Nepean Centre for Astronomy, Dr Graeme White, who raised the money for the project, oversaw its construction and brought the project to fruition.
Dr White was employed at UWS Nepean from 1990 to 2001.
