	The Nepean Concert Band
		A formal concert is performed each year (at Centrepointe Theatre, usually in February) and the NCB presents a bi-weekly "Summer Sounds" series (at Andrew Haydon Park), Wednesday evenings, from June to August.
		The NCB is a provincially-registered non-profit organization and depends upon membership fees, concert revenue, and sponsorship from patrons in the public and private sectors, to pay for the necessities such as conductor's honorarium, rehearsal space rental, equipment maintenance and the purchase of quality concert band arrangements.
		Terry is currently a music teacher at Woodroffe High School in Ottawa where he conducts the Wind Ensemble, directs musical theatre productions, and shares conducting duties of the Symphonic Band and Stage Band.

	2005 AAPT Winter Meeting Highlights
		A number of sessions were devoted to pedagogical issues such as "Practice: Effects of Repetition," "Challenges to Dissemination," "History of PER," "Practical Pedagogy," "Problem Solving," and "Probing Physics Understanding." Undergraduate students engaged in outreach and physics research were featured in a session of contributed papers organized by SPS (Society of Physics Students).
		Two high school teachers received High School Innovation Grants that were awarded by the Committee on Physics in High Schools.
		Nelson stressed that physics as a discipline is healthy and for physics education to be healthy, the whole continuum from kindergarten to graduate school must be healthy.

	Learning resources: Student Data Analysis Fair
		Shafaq Latif, a student from Nepean High School and one of the presenters, said that to be successful, students need their teachers' support and "most importantly, lots of patience"—sentiments that were echoed by her fellow students.
		As a student interested in financial accounting, Shafaq found the course to be very practical and knows that the experience will be useful in her future studies.
		Last year, a panel of judges were used to select the student winners, but as most of the teachers, administrators and organizers I spoke with agreed, it was difficult to choose just one project that stood out from the rest.

		The band was established in September 2001 to provide a platform for students to further expand upon their musical experiences from middle school, and promote an interest in big band music.
