After Nero Reloaded, the Germans behind the best application for burning CDs and DVDs will come in the second week of October with a new version, 7.0, which will not be a simple update, the new application allowing users to burn HD-DVD or Blu-Ray discs.
The Nero team has also announced during IFA 2005 that certain Nero 7 functions will be integrated with the Windows operating system, which means that probably you will be able burn a CD or a DVD directly from Windows Explorer.
Nero 7 will cost approximately 70 Euros and once the commercial version will be launched, the company will also release a demo.

Nero Digital plays fine in BSplayer (using ffdshow) and separate.srt subs are far more practical, beacuse the font size, colour and position can be changed.
I was frustrated because I had used Nero Recode 2 [version 2.2.6.04] to re-encode some Japanese films, but there were no button options for subtitles (and chapters), and when completed, the files didn't have subpictures.
I would be happy with the Nero embedded subtitles, but I've noticed a new problem: when played from a DVD on my old media-box system, the video visably pauses for a split-second whenever a subpicture is displayed; presumedly to load the image.

Finally i managed to try nero digital, i was surprised by the quality of image, quickness(2 hour movie took 1 hour to encode in one pass mode) and multiple audio and subtitle support.
Anyway Nero Digital is faster 8and maybe better) of those other codec (it isn't free, I know, but my OEM Nero 6 edition include Nero Recode 2 and Nero Digital encoding).
Well I've done some encodes with Nero Digital and the Home Theater Encodes are pretyy impressive, I made an Encode of "Assault on Precinct 13" that in a 2.2 GB file looked as good as the 5gb DVD.

the aac+ ecoder of nero digital doesn't produce high quality encodings, it converts too "robust", produces for example a lot of clipped samples.
Nero created their HE-AAC encoder together with ateme, but the format is an ISO standard.
Generally it's not recommended to make a WAV file louder than it originally was before encoding it, because the codec will sometimes increase the loud passages, too, so "by amplifying a wave-file so that it just didn't clipped" you are heading for trouble with almost any compression format.

Steve Makofsky turned me on to some software I already use: Nero Burning ROM, but more specifically, Nero Recode 2, which is a part of their expanded "ultra" Nero suite.
Nero calls their format "Nero Digital", but it's really just advanced MPEG4.
Unfortunately, Nero hasn't seen fit to distribute a standalone "Nero Digital" decoder, which is not exactly a great way to promote a new file format.

On the Nero Digital Web site (http://www.nerodigital.com/enu/Trailers.html) there is a High Definition clip that when downloaded to my computer plays fine on both my Avellink Player and in Windows Media Player 10.
That is possible, but the clip that plays on the Avellink Player is labeled as a Nero Digital HD file and was apparaenlty encoded in the H.264 format.
Nero Recode has two group of profiles for encoding material, the first one is up to High Definition TV and the second profile is HDTV-AVC.

I noticed that Nero Digital (the H263 one) is compatible with Linkplayer2 but only for Video, not Audio part.
The other reason Why Nero Digital cannot be played on Linkplayer2 is when we choose the Motion Compensation encoding option.
Nero recently announced the first player in North America to support Nero Digital Nero- Avayon DXP-1000 DVD Player however is only supports Nero Standard Profile MPEG4-Part2 (.h263 480p)
