Nero Wolfe is a fictional detective who appeared in 33 novels and 39 short stories by the American mystery writer Rex Stout from the 1930s to the 1970s.
Wolfe is at first concerned about a possible conflict of interest, but feels unable to refuse when the man then dies in his office before telling Wolfe where to find the red box.

Nero Wolfe is a genius, Stout, his puppeteer, is a clever writer and a man of wide experience who can be assumed to have met several ‘geniuses’; his descriptions are widely perceptive.
Nero Wolfe was born in 1934 and evaporated in 1975, thus Stout was writing Nero’s adventures from the age of 48 until 88.
Nero is often described as weighing one-seventh of a (short/‘American’) ton, that is, one-seventh of 2,000 lb avoirdupois or 907.18474 kg.

Nero Wolfe, the fat genius detective of New York City, is the literary creation of Rex Stout.
Archie is himself a fine detective, and serves as legman for Wolfe, going out and gathering information and suspects, and bringing them (both the clues and the suspects) to Wolfe for digestion.
I was bothered so much by this, in fact, that I wrote three Nero Wolfe stories myself, in a self-proclaimed effort to conclude the series properly (Stout actually concluded the series fairly well, and his last story, A Family Affair should satisfy those who haven't read Goldsborough, though it is a bit depressing).

Nero Wolfe and his investigator/bodyguard/secretary ARCHIE GOODWIN are just as much "eyes" as their predecessors Holmes and Watson – with a big helping of the American P.I. genes that defined the genre.
Wolfe sometimes employs or works with outside detectives as well; his favourite hired guns are Saul Panzer and Orrie Cather, and he occasionally crosses paths (and swords) with Stout's female P.I. Dol Bonner.
The Adventures of Nero Wolfe was brought to radio in 1943 with Santos Ortega in the lead role, and in 1945-46 with Francis X. Bushman as Nero and Elliot Lewis as Archie.

 Wolfe's Reading List
Wolfe is obviously a fan of Gunther's, since he's read at least two of the books: Inside Russia Today and Inside Europe.
I was excited to find a reference at the end or beginning (I can't remember which book) of a Nero Wolfe Mystery and found that the two authors had great mutual admiration for each other and personal enjoyment out of reading the other's books.
Wolfe is in the middle of the a fit.

Most Tim fans know he's directed before, including videos for the Cars and Neil Young, and his movie "Digging To China." And the diehard fans probably also know about the amount of research he does and his acute attention to detail for almost all his roles.
One of the things that most struck me was that care was being taken to bring out the bright colours of Wolfe's life: not just with the yellow shirts, but even with details like Fritz's clothes and even the colours of the cars on the street.
