		Since NeroDigital is supposed to be used in standalone recorders and hence had to be limited in computational complexity, the results are still good, but ND isn't as detailed as its competition and it is somewhat blocky as well (though those are well hidden in many cases).
		Recode's NeroDigital output comes as an MP4 file with AAC (High Efficiency if you like, both 2ch and 5.1ch is possible), subtitles and chapters (though the latter two require that you use Ahead's Showtime player, you won't get those features in any other player).
		NeroDigital output will be added to at least NeroVision which also allows editing and non DVD input (though you can achieve the same by using the NeroDigital DS encoding filter already).

		NeroDigital is not available as regular VFW codec, nor as the commandline utility I've used for these tests.

		Ateme's NeroDigital AVC codecs really impressed me. The Main Profile encoder is already available to every Recode user, and thus a very good AVC implementation is already publicly available.
		Considering that AVC was only ratified in spring 2003 (and only became an ISO standard in December 2003), and that 1.5 years later we already have a fast encoder that delivers good quality, that's quite a step ahead from how long it took MPEG-2 and MPEG-4 to make that step.

		Their NeroDigital solution is an entire package for video, audio and subtitles, based entirely on the MPEG-4 standard.
		So, keep in mind, NeroDigital means a lot of things: NeroDigital audio is an AAC codec, NeroDigital video can mean an MPEG-4 ASP codec, or an MPEG-4 AVC codec.
		Recode DVDs and Videos to NeroDigital allows you to process multiple sources, from DVD or otherwise, and compress them to one of the NeroDigital codecs.

	NeroDigital not present upon download from Nero
		I was wondering if anyone else has had this problem when downloading the new 'Demo' packages from the Nero and NeroDigital web sites.
		I tried downloading the package 1 and 2 (Nero Burning Rom with all extras and NeroVisionExpress 3)from the respective site (in case there was a difference of any sought) however the promised 'NeroDigital' does not appear to be present.
		The two missing icons are of course the 'NeroDigital' icons, which explains why the item can not open from the SmartStart menu.

		My NeroDigital (mpeg-4) encodes are turning out phenominally good-looking, but the encoding process is dog-slow - only a handful of frames-per-second on the 2nd-pass, and as there are no NeroDigital set top players in my area, and the process is taking so long, and blu-ray has yet to arrive,......
		NeroDigital remains only an interesting diversion for me right now.

		It includes an MPEG-4 Advanced Simple Profile video codec, a High Efficiency AAC audio encoder, using the standard MP4 container to contain both audio and video (and subtitles, but in a nonstandard form).
		And instead of offering the tools separately, NeroDigital has been included in Recode 2.

		M$' DRM is too invasive on its users and I was hoping maybe ND is much kinder...and more secure than M$' offering has proven to be.

		Please note that while MPEG-4 AVC content can also be created by NeroDigital, and put into the MP4 container, at this point there is no DVD player available that can play this - but there will be in the future.
		There are many DVD players that can handle MPEG-4 ASP video, but only two that can handle NeroDigital as a whole (and even then only NeroDigital ASP, the AVC codec is not at all supported at the moment this guide is written).
		LMP4 is my shortname for the MPEG-4 ASP codec contained in libavcodec, the multipurpose open source codec suite.

		Well if you prefer NeroDigital over XviD or DivX, then the advantage is that you get ND.
		To answer your question Jafa: Nero Digital can do the movie as a 700 meg file with excellent quality so instead of one movie you can have 6 movies on one 4.7 gig dvd.

		I've been playing around with NeroDigital and since their video Z330 should have no problems playing that, but we cannot play MP4 audio so we won't be able to hear anything.
		I have also been looking to see if it is possible to combine NeroDigital video with AC3 or MP3 audio if anyone knows?

		A few days ago, a fellow Doom9 forum member going by the name of Skuto, made (what I think is) an interesting GMC observation, when playing back NeroDigital encodes via his NeroDigital certified stand-alone player - the Siemssen SCO 5000!
		As some of you know NeroDigital generates Mpeg4 encodes with 3 warp-point GMC (the same as XviD) and as far as we know, there are currently no players supporting this implementation...
		Now for all those who don't believe that Nero digital streams contain 3WP GMC.

		My MPEG-4+AAC in MP4 (NeroDigital compatible) encodes tend not to exceeded 800MB and play just as well as the MPEG-4+MP3 in AVI encodes!
		Admittedly during early beta testing there were some niggling issues with MP4 file playback in general, but these were ironed out in time for the official launch.
		That said, I'll try and get around to generating some full movie MP4's with Recode2, to ascertain whether there's a NeroDigital muxing incompatibility of some kind....
