Trevor F Smith: Exterior: Positively Naked NetPositive
This reminds me of one distinct day, as I was fixing some rendering bug in NetPositive (read: "hacking it to handle crappy HTTP or HTML"), I ran across an article claiming that Microsoft had around 1000 people working on IE.
I began to feel like NetPositive was a fleck of cork being rolled along an endless sea.

If this script magic fails (new version of NetPositive...), you must configure NetPositive yourself: enable proxies, set the HTTP proxy to be 127.0.0.1, and the HTTP port to be 8080.
If your page fails to update although you have just refreshed it with Stamina, or if your page displays "not in Charisma's cache" although you know it actually is, it may be due to cache inconsistancy between Charisma and your bowser.

I have to wonder, however, why Be has poured so much effort into some of these niceties when some much more important work needs to be done.
Even though NetPositive makes me wanna boot into any other kind of OS, I can be patient and wait for a final version of BeZilla, which should be released around the same time as on all the other platforms.
Be has some major obstacles in their way if their little MediaOS is going to be a contenda, but they have taken a big step towards their ultimate goal with R4.5.

NetPositive lacks support for JavaScript or CSS; however, it does support Unicode.
One must use the deprecated HTML 3.2 element to assign a font to text and have it be understood by NetPositive.
That said, the odds of a reader coming across your page who is actually using NetPositive is virtually zero (I do not think that I have ever seen NetPositive in my server logs).

On balance, NetPositive is a decent browser for casual use, but it can’t compare with Netscape or IE.

The reason why I believe that applications like NetPositive and BeMail should come default is that they take fully advantage of the operating system itself.
This is possible in BeOS, and soon Haiku, so thats why I think BeMail is a great application to include as default.
Same goes for NetPositive (of course, probably not in Haiku, since it's really outdated, but Haiku should have a native web browser).
