NETRAKONA, July 2:—Disposal of a large number of civil and criminal cases has been delayed due to acute shortage of judges in Netrakona courts causing suffer­ings to the litigants.
The Netrakona District and Sessions Judge Shah Alam has been conducting the trial of both civil and criminal cases, appeal of both categories, cases, bail prayers revision cases and motion as well as conducting trial of different tribunal cases and special cases.
One more additional district and sessions judge is urgently needed in place of existing one who is undergoing hardship in the disposal of both civil and criminal and appeal and revision and other cases.

Nine persons, eight in Netrakona and one in Meherpur district, were killed and over 60 others including four policemen injured as suicide bombers struck again and denonated bombs in a crowd.
In Netrakona the attack was carried out by two suicide bombers of whom Jadav Biswas, son of Satyandranath Biswas, died on the spot while Ripon suffered grievous injuries and was admitted to Mymensingh Medical College Hospital (MMCH) along with other injured persons.
Earlier, the banned JMB circulated leaflets threatening to attack civil and police administrations, court and educational institutions in the district, police sources said.

Seven people were killed and 50 wounded in Netrakona, ancestral town of the state minister for home affairs, Lutfozzaman Babar, when suicide bombers ploughed their bicycle into a crowd in front of the office of a cultural organisation where a bomb had gone off just an hour earlier.
Four of the deceased were identified as the Netrakona unit general secretary of Udichi, Khawaza Haider Hossain, Joynal Abedin and Jahanara Begum, residents of the area, and Jadav Biswas, a suspected bomber.
Terming the Netrakona blast as anti-Islam and anti-humanity, she said barbarous acts would continue unless the patrons of militancy within in the alliance government were put on trial.

Earlier this month the United Nations Children's Fund UNICEF warned it was seeing an "exceptionally high" number of people suffering from pneumonia in one eastern district.
It said pneumonia and other acute respiratory infections, which are common after flooding, were among the biggest and fastest killers of Bangladeshi children and could leave many dead unless medical teams were able to get through to cut-off areas.
