When Oklahoma Territory and Indian Territory joined the Union in 1907 as the single state of Oklahoma, Beaver County was divided into Beaver, Texas, and Cimarron counties.

The Oklahoma Panhandle is the panhandle region of the state of Oklahoma, comprising its three westernmost counties; Cimarron County, Texas County, and Beaver County.
It is bordered by Kansas and Colorado at 37°N on the north, New Mexico at 103°W on the west, Texas at 36.5°N on the south, and the remainder of Oklahoma at 100°W on the east.
Oklahoma Panahandle State University is located in Goodwell, Oklahoma, 10 miles from Guymon.

The ground seen on the map was a strip of land set aside in 1825 at a treaty conference in Prairie du Chien, with the intend of separating the Sioux to the north and Fox/Sac nations to the south.
In a treaty of July 15, 1830, the Sac and Fox band ceded a strip of country twenty miles wide on the south, and the Madawakanton, Wapakoota, Wahpeton and Sisiton bands of Sioux, ceded twenty miles on the north of the line of 1825, from the Mississippi River to the Des Moines.
Thus a strip of neutral territory, forty miles wide extended from the Mississippi River west to the East fork of the Red Cedar River, was established between these ferocious tribes, on which they were permitted to hunt and fish in common, but were forbidden to fight.

The northern boundary of Texas (southern boundary of No Man's Land), when it entered the United States, was set by the Missouri Compromise of 1820 and extended for Texas (Texas wanted to enter as a slave state and the Compromise forbade any slave state north of the parallel).
The area not claimed by Colorado, Kansas, New Mexico, and Texas became known as No Man's Land, The Strip, and The Neutral Strip.
Oklahoma's recorded history began in 1541 when Spanish explorer Coronado ventured through the area on his quest for the "Lost City of Gold." The land that would eventually be known as Oklahoma was part of the 1803 Louisiana Purchase.
