NewsForge | Was the Neuwied penguin incident a Microsoft conspiracy?
According to Ananova, the stuffed toy penguin was found laying across the tracks outside of Neuwied on Sunday, November 13 2005, interrupting the train scheduled to arrive from Linz.
The Neuwied police are quoted in the story as saying that they find it difficult to believe that a penguin of that size could go missing without the owner noticing.
The Neuwied penguin was also placed close to the train's final destination, where the train would already have begun braking -- thus guaranteeing both that passengers would get a clear look at the obstruction and that police and press would respond quickly.

Johannes GROAT, the founder of the GROAT family line under study, was probably born in the vicinity of Neuwied, Germany around 1680 and married his wife, Walburgis or Walpurga (last name unknown), around 1699.
It is probable that Johannes was among the Palatine refugees who fled Germany to Holland and, via Rotterdam, went first to England, in 1709, and then to the Palatine Settlement in and around Livingston Manor along the Hudson River, New York, arriving there during the summer of 1710.
Gabriel GROAT of Kathoway, the son of Johannes Groat (1) and his wife Walpurga, was probably born in Germany around 1703, came to America with his parents in 1710 and lived in Annsbury, part of the Palatine settlement along the Hudson River.

At first sight this list does not look very impressive; but we must, of course, bear in mind that most of these congregations were powerful settlements, that each settlement was engaged in Diaspora work, and that the branches of that work had extended to Denmark, Switzerland and Norway.
For the first time the Synod was attended by duly elected congregation deputies: those deputies came not only from Germany, but from Great Britain, America and the mission-field; and thus the voice of the Synod was the voice, not of one commanding genius, but of the whole Moravian Church.
