No confirmed historical eruptions of Ojos del Salado have been recorded, but the volcano has displayed persistent fumarolic activity, and there was an unconfirmed report of minor gas-and-ash emission in 1993.

At 22,560 feet (6,887 m) Ojos del Salado, a stratovolcano, is often considered the world's highest active volcano.
The problem is that no historic eruptions have been recorded, although fumaroles are active at the summit.
