Ralph, 2nd Baron Nevill, was also captured by the Black Douglas in the same fray, but was ransomed and fought in further campaigns against the Scots, and was the victor of the Battle of Neville's Cross at which he took prisoner, David II, King of Scotland.

Among "The Lordly Ones" we meet Ralph Neville, Lord of Raby, victor over the Scots at Nevilles Cross; and another Ralph, first Earl of Westmorland, and most uxorious of all this well-married family, with his brood of 23 children.
Cecily Neville, Ralph's youngest, fairest, star-crossed daughter, the Rose of Raby, wife to a would-be King, mother to two more, and Great Grand-dam to the usurping line of Tudors - her greatest tragedy would be to outlive nearly all her line.

Online Guide to Richmond, North Yorkshire - St Agatha's (Easby) Abbey
The significance of the cross (apart from its value as an example of early medieval art) is in the part it played in the introduction of Christianity to Britain.
As the "rood crosses" had been made of wood, they were usually ornately carved and this idea, too, was carried over and applied to the stone crosses.
The survival of the Easby Cross illustrates yet another historical paradox: for when the church was being built on the site of the original stone cross, the cross (which was regarded as being too crude) was broken up and used as convenient building stone in the new church.

The victory of Nevilles Cross was long commemorated and many people claimed that if you walked nine times round the Nevilles Cross and then put your ear to the ground you could hear the sound of battle and the clash of swords.
The Battle at Nevilles cross is an interesting one historically but one which has never (as far as I am aware) had any paranormal activity associated with it.

Because they couldn’t be nailed into the slate and tile without damaging the materials, she helped to devise a method of weighting the tarps at the edges of the roofs and then roping them down.

The Bulmers who occupied the "Great House" during Saxon times were succeeded by the Nevilles (of Nevilles Cross fame) in 1174 when Geoffrey Dc Neville married Emma Bulmer the daughter of Bertram thus transferring the estate from Saxon to Norman ownership.
The Nevilles remained until Elizabethan times when the castle and estates where sequestered by Elizabeth following an unsuccessful uprising in support of a plot to effect a marriage between Mary Queen of Scots and the Duke of Norfolk who was the brother in law of Charles Neville.
The estates were then run by Crown Commissioners and in 1569 a survey commissioned by the Queen of the village and estates records that they were "very plentyful of all things, the soyle, good and bountifull of corne and gresse, well replenished with woods and timber'.

The hosts took the lead when Gary Neville was given plenty of time to deliver a tempting cross, and though Solskjaer's header was not top-notch the ball took enough of a deflection off defender Tomas Repka's arm to deceive goalkeeper David James.
In the first minutes of the game Defoe should have had a freekick at the very least when involved in a Neville sandwich while the linesman flagging for his 'goal' is typical of the type of luck you get when down the bottom and the type of refereeing decisions made at Old Trafford.
Carrick for me was man of the match (West Ham wise) and showed Veron how to do it in the centre, despite the commentators sheer excitement every time the Argie made a pass, or Man Utd put a few passes together.

The Neville Brothers - Treacherous Too: A History of the Neville Brothers, Vol. 2 (1955-1987) | CJAD
Okay, there's no such thing as secondhand revelation, but The Neville Brothers had more than enough stray tracks from their decades of local music-making around New Orleans to justify this second, single-disc follow-up to Rhino's first Nevilles history.
There's more of an emphasis on novelty material here, but once again you can hear the roots of The Nevilles' cross-genre appeal in pop, R&B, and soul music dating back to the 1950s.
Since most of these songs were recorded as singles, they have an immediate surface appeal, but repeated listenings also bring out the sounds of the tight session bands (including members of The Meters) who backed The Nevilles up.

History of the Isle of Man - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
In 1290 King Edward I of England was in possession of Man, and it remained in English hands till 1313, when Robert Bruce took it after besieging Castle Rushen for five weeks.
Then, until 1346, when the battle of Nevilles Cross decided the long struggle between England and Scotland in England's favour, there followed a confused period when Man sometimes experienced English rule and sometimes Scottish.
About 1333 King Edward III of England granted Man to William de Montacute, 3rd Baron Montacute, (later the 1st Earl of Salisbury), as his absolute possession, without reserving any service to be rendered to him.
