New Berlin is a city on Earth's moon and probably part of the Lunar colonies.
By 2373, New Berlin was large enough to be seen from Earth at daytime, since Commander William Riker missed the familiar sight of the city, while looking at the Moon during his mission to the year 2063.

1960s - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
The "Sixties" has become synonymous with all the new, exciting, radical, subversive and/or dangerous (according to one's viewpoint) events and trends of the period, which continued to develop in the 1970s, 1980s and beyond.
The beginning of what was generally seen as a new political era with the election of President John F. Kennedy in 1960, and its ending in tragedy and disillusionment with Kennedy's assassination in 1963, the assassinations of King and Robert F. Kennedy in 1968, and the collapse of Lyndon Johnson's presidency.
University students rioted in London, Paris, Berlin and Rome, huge crowds protested against the Vietnam War in Australia and New Zealand (both of which had committed troops to the war), and politicians such as Harold Wilson and Pierre Trudeau modeled themselves on John F. Kennedy.

As "Star Trek" progressed and the special effects improved, viewers who weren't interested in the deeper themes behind the shows were drawn in with fantastic space ship battles, fierce fire fights down crowded corridors and choreographed hand-to-hand combat.
Some say the show successfully continued the "Star Trek" tradition of diversity and equality with the character of Janeway (Kate Mulgrew), the gravel-voiced female captain who always comes out on top despite the second-guessing of her male subordinates and occasional betrayal by her crew.
Other "Star Trek" fans - some who were disgusted with the estrogen-infused episodes and others put off by poor writing and predictable plots - say the show was a cataclysmic disaster that managed to hobble along by relying on gimmicks used in previous series.

Berlin is a major city on the European continent on Earth and was the capital of the former nation-state Germany.

Alexander Courage may have given the sprawling Star Trek franchise its signature musical fanfare, but for two decades it's been composer Jerry Goldsmith who's periodically infused the film and TV cycles with their crucial musical heart and soul or, as in the case of this rousing masterwork, their fire and fury.
Star Trek fans will no doubt need some time to get used to the EXTREMELY dark overtones of the music, much like we had to do with the Star Trek VI soundtrack by Cliff Eidelman.
Composer Jerry Goldsmith has strong ties to the "Star Trek" saga, and his score to "Star Trek: Nemesis" is a worthy addition to the Trek/Goldsmith musical canon.
