From 1886 to 1892 he was a member of the Board of Health of New Brighton, Staten Island, where he established a sewerage system and abated the smoke nuisance caused by factories in Bayonne, New Jersey.
Charles Hollick was born in New Brighton, Staten Island on February 6, 1857.
Material in the Staten Island series relates to Dr. Hollick's study of the flora of Staten Island with N. Britton; his work with the Staten Island Institute of Arts and Sciences; and reports pertaining to his work as a member of the Board of Health of Staten Island (1886-1892).

After living there for more than 20 years, the family relocated to Staten Island in 1873, where William was engaged as a carpenter for the remainder of his life.
There was another Grimshaw family living on Staten Island, one member of which was I believe a W. Grimshaw, a cousin of my father, so not doubt his father and my father’s father were brothers.
This descendant chart clearly indicates that William had a brother (who married Esther Wood) living on Staten Island during the same timeframe that he and his family were living there (assuming the information in the letter is accurate).

The Rev. Wilhelmus Jackson studied in Holland four years, and on returning to America was licensed in 1757 to preach, and was pastor of the Reformed Dutch churches of Bergen and Staten Island, 1757-1789.
In 1864 an ORPHAN ASYLUM for the parish, a residence for the Sisters of Charity, a large school and a dwelling for the male teachers were built at a cost of about $36,000.
