  Route 2 Bridge Project
During Stage I, two lanes of traffic would be maintained on the existing bridge while half of the new bridge is built adjacent and to the south of the existing bridge.
The proposed centerline of the roadway will be shifted from the existing centerline along portions of the roadway in order to reconstruct the highway to current standards and to align the roadway with the proposed layout of the new bridge.
A new monument will be built to replicate the existing monument and will be placed in the Veterans’ Memorial Park which is located just west of the bridge between Route 2 and Old Brunswick Road.

In the early 1960s, several local roads were upgraded as part of the Trans-Canada Highway project which saw New Brunswick Highway 2 pass immediately north of the town between Fredericton and Moncton.
At the same time, a series of local roads in the Kennebecasis River valley were designated as New Brunswick Highway 1, running from an interchange with the Trans-Canada at Sussex, southwest to Saint John.
At the same time, New Brunswick Highway 1 was extended east on the old Trans-Canada alignment to an interchange at River Glade near Petitcodiac and New Brunswick Highway 10 was extended on the old Trans-Canada from an interchange with the new Highway 2 alignment at Young's Cove Road south to Sussex.

This "bypass" was bypassed itself by 1973 when a new, mainly controlled-access alignment across the top of the peninsula that St. Andrews sits on was built.
It was around this time that the city of Saint John underwent a massive urban renewal project, of which one of the centrepieces was a major freeway crossing the city.
It now continues along the former TCH route from Sussex to where it meets with the new road just east of Petitcodiac, a road which was already 4-laned in the early 1990s.

I had booked 3 days to stay at this hotel, to be near my child at Rutgers.
The location of the hotel is a concern also and can only be entered from one direction as it is right after an exit off a major highway and since New Jersey doesn't allow left hand turns, you can only enter the parking lot safely by coming off the exit and turning in.
