Evangelicalism is usually associated with a type of preaching that calls on the hearer to confess his or her sin and believe in Christ's forgiveness.
Evangelicalism is the movement in modern Christianity, transcending denominational and confessional boundaries, that emphasizes conformity to the basic tenets of the faith and a missionary outreach of compassion and urgency.
Although the new evangelicalism was open to ecumenical contacts, rejected excessive legalism and moralism, and revealed serious interest in the social dimension of the gospel, many of its spokespersons remained tied to the political and economic status quo.

He met with representatives of the Evangelical Alliance in 1948 and worked with Sir Arthur Smith of the Alliance to bring together delegates from twelve countries at Hildenborough Hall in Kent, England in March 1950 and at a similar meeting at Gordon Divinity School in Boston in September of the same year.
The meeting (called the International Convention of Evangelicals) was to be held at Woudschoten hostel near the town of Zeist in the Netherlands from August 5-11, 1951.
Reports from national and evangelical fellowships, including Cuba, the Evangelical Association of the Caribbean (which includes a report on the Evangelical seminary being started in Kingston, Jamaica), and Evangelical Fellowship of India (a report on Christian education in that country).

About 40 of the 50 new congregations are to be established - the common term is planted - as part of a multimillion-dollar project set to begin in 2002.
Sheldon, pastor of Bux-Mont Baptist Church in Hatboro, said the new churches frequently would be aimed at nonwhites and at ethnic groups such as Koreans, Ukrainians and Chinese.
The vote to affirm the newly revised Southern Baptist doctrinal statement came in response to a motion by Roger Spradlin, pastor of Valley Baptist Church in Bakersfield.

The BWA is not a governing body but is a fellowship organization with headquarters in Falls Church, Va. The BWA, which includes 211 member Baptist conventions/unions, was formed in London, England, in 1905, in large part by Southern Baptists.
Patterson is president of Southwestern Baptist Theological Seminary and one of nine SBC leaders named to a committee formed in 1997 to evaluate the relationship between the SBC and BWA.
Lotz repeatedly characterized the BWA as a "conservative evangelical movement" and blamed the SBC for the estrangement, characterizing it as a "schism."
