In addition to the new residential and commercial development, Princeton Township has preserved 52 acres of land as permanent open space with the acquisition of the Poe Tract and is currently under contract to purchase 38 acres of land for active recreation located near Snowden Lane and Herrontown Road.
New residential development should respect and enhance the existing natural and man-made environment by clustering, where appropriate, to preserve identified sensitive areas.
New buildings should be integrated in a nondisruptive fashion into the complex balance of bulks, heights and scales that now exist.

New Jersey established a State Register in 1970 (N.J.S.A. 13:1B-15.128) with the same criteria for eligibility as the National Register, making listing on the New Jersey Register a pre-requisite for National Register listing.

Welcome to Pequannock Township, NJ he Township of Pequannock is located in Eastern Morris County, along State Highway Route 23, approximately 5 miles north of the interchange of Route 23 with Interstate Routes 1-80 and U.S. Route 46.
Interstate Route 287 crosses the northwest corner of the Township, with a full interchange just north of the Township in the Borough of Riverdale.
The Township is a political subdivision of the State of New Jersey and encompasses two communities, Pequannock and Pompton Plains, each served by their own post office.

The 13th New Jersey was organized at Camp Frelinghuysen, Newark, and mustered in service on August 25, 1862 which is where Joe Crowell, at the young age of eighteen, begins to share his experiences.
Discharged in 1866, Crowell died in 1919 in Paterson, New Jersey.
Be forewarned that this is not a regimental history of the 85th New York (Lafler was pre-occupied plotting to gain his freedom and wasn't around to partake in the 85th's saga); instead John Ball concentrates on the writings of his ancestor's diary to generate this book.
