CLIFTON — The New Jersey Pride, the Garden State's only professional lacrosse team, announced today that head coach Ted Georgalas and assistant coach Frank Vitolo have been relieved of their coaching duties after four-plus seasons with the team.
He led New Jersey to the playoffs in both 2002 and 2003 after a quirky rule kept the team out of the 2001 playoffs despite being tied for the third-best record in the league, but has won just twice in the last 19 games.
In 2003, Georgalas was named the MLL Coach of the Year after leading the Pride to an overall record of 7-6, including a narrow defeat in the league semifinals against the Baltimore Bayhawks.
