If you are a member of the State Judiciary, you are required to join the JRS as a condition of employment.  The JRS covers the Chief Justice and Associate Justices of the State Supreme Court, as well as all judges of the Superior Court and Tax Court of the State of New Jersey.
The State House Commission is empowered to order the forfeiture of all or part of the pension or retirement benefit of a member for misconduct during public service which renders the service, in whole or in part, dishonorable.
State and local public employers are also required to notify the Division of Pensions and Benefits whenever a public official or employee is removed from public office or employment for cause.
