For school year 2000 to 2001, there were about 2,500 high graduates who enrolled at Passi Trade School in Passi City, Iloilo, New Lucena Polytechnic College in New Lucena in Iloilo, Leon Ganzon Polytechnic College in Ajuy town, Iloilo and Dumalag Vocational School in Capiz.
Iloilo province has 20 schools; Capiz, 16; Aklan 10, and Antique, 5.

Born in New Lucena, Iloilo, Philippines on Sept. 27, 1972, Macapinlac is the eldest of five children of Magdalena Libona-Belvis, a teacher and former town councillor, and of the late Jose Gerona-Macapinlac, Jr., a well-known local artist.
His desire to become a priest became stronger in his second year of high school because his English teacher, a Carmelite nun, told him he had what it takes to be a priest and encouraged him to pursue the vocation.
After completing studies in psychology at the University of San Agustin in Iloilo City in 1992, Macapinlac spent the next four years at a minor seminary, where he graduated with a bachelor of arts with a major in classical philosophy.

Iloilo -- The Municipal Trial Court in Cities (MCTC) of Iloilo City under Judge Alexis Zerrudo recently sentenced two swindlers victimizing PhilHealth beneficiaries with imprisonment from six months of arresto mayor as maximum to two years, four months and one day prision coreccional medium period as maximum, and, to pay a fine of P5,000.
On February 10, 2005, the hospital tipped off the PhilHealth Anti-fraud Team about their presence, Sison representing herself as authorized representative of Maria Gumban from New Lucena, Iloilo to claim the Philhealth Benefit Refund of Gumban's daughter who is a PhilHealth member.
Sison later disclosed that a spouse of a policeman is behind the syndicate.
