New Order are an English electronic and rock group formed in 1980 by the surviving members of Joy Division following the suicide of singer Ian Curtis.
New Order has often been cited by fans, critics and other musicians as a highly influential figure in the indie rock and dance music scenes for over the past 25 years.
Both New Order and Joy Division were among the most successful artists on the Factory Records label, run by Granada television personality Tony Wilson, and partnered with Factory in the financing of the Manchester club The Hacienda.

It should be noted that while none of the "classics" such as Blue Monday are here, almost all of their post-comeback songs are.

Sumner's lyrics remain completely useless — virtually every line announces precisely what the next one will be, with rhymes that would not be beyond the ready imagination of any average 10-year-old.
Still, the fact that New Order can still bring the beats and a song or three at this late stage of the story is proof that they were right all along.

While the others have their own charm and spirit, this one perfectly captures and blends the post-punk ethos of Joy Division with the new lease on life that is New Order--and it's the one I find myself drawn to the most whenever I feel the need to pop in a CD and enjoy some music.
The opener Age of Consent is a racy opener which declares the band's identity as different from Movement's pseudo-Joy Division gloom.

The trio of guitar-based rockers, "Primitive Notion," "Slow Jam," and "Rock the Shack," all further the point--these are songs that no other band could have recorded (though the latter does include guest appearances by members of Primal Scream).
