Socialist Challenge (Canada) - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
Socialist Challenge was the name of a Trotskyist group in English Canada formed by former members of the Revolutionary Workers League/Ligue Ouvrière Révolutionnaire who were expelled or resigned when the RWL moved away from Trotskyism in the early 1980s.
They regrouped as the "Alliance for Socialist Action" and, in 1988 adopted the name Socialist Challenge (after the name of their newspaper) as a result of an organizational fusion with the Quebec group Gauche Socialiste (the formal name of the group was Socialist Challenge/Gauche Socialiste).
Socialist Challenge was initially a sympathizing section of the United Secretariat of the Fourth International but became the USFI's official section in English Canada in the late 1980s after the RWL, now called the Communist League, left the USFI.

International Socialist Tendency - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
New IS groups appeared in France, Belgium, Denmark, Netherlands, Norway and in Greece the Socialist Revolution Organisation which had been loosely linked to IS in the 1970s rejoined the tendency.
Groups were also founded in the former Stalinist states as contact could be sustained in those countries for the first time, this led to the foundation of IS groups in Poland and the Czech Republic.
Sometimes this was associated with the involvement in the internal affairs of the group by representatives of the SWP, as well as the political orientation of the group.

Socialist Party New PSI - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
The House of Freedoms won the elections and Silvio Berlusconi formed a new executive where the New PSI was represented by Stefano Caldoro as vice-minister for Education.
The New PSI is far away from the electoral success of the old Italian Socialist Party which, during 80', gained 15% of the votes.
Nonetheless the New PSI and its two MPs form a joint parliamentary group with its former ally the Christian Democracy for the Autonomies comprising 6 MPs in total, which makes it a minimal force in Parliament.

The History of Trotskyism in America
In 1901, a group or socialists outside of the SLP who were known as the Social-Democratic Party, and a significant wing that split from the SLP, held a congress that announced the formation of a new party, the Socialist Party.
The new group described itself as a public faction of the Communist Party, and directed most of its activities to trying to reach and convince the militants still in the CP and the Communist International with their politics.
The Socialist Workers Party went on to play a key role in the anti-Vietnam war movement, and was responsible for the movement adopting the “Out Now” slogan as opposed to the ultra-left slogans of drive the GI’s into the sea or the Stalinist and liberal line calling for negotiations.

 An Appreciation of Hal Draper
Although the american International Socialists largely retained the theory of bureacratic collectivism (as compared to Cliff's fairly similar theory of state capitalism), they were attracted by Cliff's position on rank-and-file movements and what was, at that time, a very crititical leninism (leaning towards Luxemburgism) that the British IS held as theory.
This small canadian group, led by David McNally (now a leading member of the canadian New Socialist Group) and Abbie Bakan (arguably the leading member of the canadian IS) had some luck in getting small Waffle branches to affiliate, and subsequently renamed themselves the International Socialists and affiliated with the British IS tendency.
The International Socialist Organisation, following the 1977 split, was led by Cal and Barbara Winslow, who were subsequently purged from leadership in the mid 1980's at the initiation of the British SWP (the defacto leadership of the IS tendency).

A New Socialist Economics   (Site not responding. Last check: 2007-10-31)
Socialists have rather happily come to the conclusion (some more quickly than others) that any publicly owned entity must be as decentralized as possible to assure accountability and community control, while remaining centralized enough to ensure efficient delivery systems.
While this "market socialist" approach would leave health, education and utilities under public ownership, transportation, telecommunications, and most other large industries would remain in private hands, but would be strongly regulated to assure their allegiance to people before profits.
The goal of a socialist society in this regard is then to ensure that enterprise and trade is fair and unexploitative of the people and their interests, and that the welfare of society is not endangered by the abuse of such enterprise by capital.
