  Encyclopedia: Heavy metal music
Heavy metal is a form of music characterised by aggressive, driving rhythms and highly amplified distorted guitars, generally with grandiose lyrics and virtuosic instrumentation.
Whereas a painting is experienced visually, a symphony experienced audibly, a heavy metal band's "image" and the common theme that binds all their music is expressed in the artwork on the album, the set of the stage, the tone of the lyrics, in addition to the sound of the music.
Ultimately, "pure" heavy metal would position itself at the periphery of pop culture, never quite at centre, and metal denizens contend that the move towards the centre was a commercialism that compromised both the artistic integrity of the form and the opportunity for messages to be taken seriously.

Stoner metal - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
There are also very close similarities to doom metal, but most aficionados consider the two genres distinct.
The genre name is derived from the notion that the artists and audience for this kind of music are stoners (frequent users of marijuana) although the term is more in reference to the style of the music itself rather than the non-musical hobbies of band members and fans.
Stoner metal is best known by its commonly stripped down production, use of psychedelic guitar effects, and deep 70's rock influence from groups like Black Sabbath.

If the large submerged float is made of very nearly the same density as water, then it is liable to be thrown upwards by very slight eddies in the water, and it does not maintain its position at the depth at which it is intended to float.
On the other hand, if the large float is made sensibly heavier than water, the indicating or surface float must be made rather large, and then it to scme extent influences the motion of the submerged float.
A wooden rod, with a metal cap at the bottom in which shot can be placed, answers better than anything else, and sometimes the wooden rod is made in lengths, which can be screwed together so as to suit streams of different depths.

It's a vision that new producer Rob Caggiono (Cradle Of Filth) was able to bring to light with his emphasis on eliciting top-notch performances.
Heavy metal, sweat-soaked hardcore and punk rock have all enjoyed plenty of contributions from Europe and coastal North America: areas that have produced genre-defining bands, to be sure, but have alternately been burdened by an even larger glut of cannibalizing copycats taking their cues from each other rather than true life experience and inspiration.
The town where the American Indian population ended the infamous "Trail Of Tears" in 1836 is desolate, isolating, and of little comfort to the artistically inclined.

American bands with roots in Americana such as the Allman Brothers and the Grateful Dead experimented with long-form jams in the late 60s/early 70s, stretching the boundaries of these styles by incorporating jazz and psychedelia.
While metal has evolved from its late 60s origins into a wide variety of forms, the genre known as "stoner" rock, one term for a riff worship inspired closely by Black Sabbath, goes back to the 70s and recreates the vibes, often with long droning jams based on heavy guitar/bass riffs and psychedelic moods.
New Age - The resurgence of electronic music in the 80s was partly due to its inclusion in the vastly expansionist, catch-all genre of new age (or, later, contemporary instrumental), not to mention the retroactive classification of 70s music under the same moniker.

In the 90’s, the new breed of fl metallers have chosen to go to folk and classical music for inspiration, many choosing to add in keyboards and strange chants to offset their overriding atonality.

Self-proclaimed leaders of the "new wave of American heavy metal", Chimaira was formed in Cleveland in 1998, recording the indie This Present Darkness album in 2000 before earning a contract with Roadrunner Records for their next two releases.
The band's style might be described as aggro, post-thrash metalcore, with one somewhat similar band (not a direct soundalike, but a comparable band) being Lamb Of God.
Their latest, The Impossibility Of Reason isn't a particularly unique record, but it's very heavy and it's done right, with thick, crunchy guitars, excellent double-bass drumming, a stellar production, and vocals, though a tad one-dimensional, that are venomous and up to the task.
