		The New World Translation of the Holy Scriptures (NWT) is a modern-language translation of the Bible published by the Watchtower Bible and Tract Society of New York, Inc. and the International Bible Students Association of Brooklyn, New York.
		The New World Translation of the Christian Greek Scriptures (New Testament) was released at a convention of Jehovah's Witnesses at Yankee Stadium, New York, on August 2, 1950, to the 82,075 present.
		Hort, is presented with a literal word-for-word translation by the New World Translation Committee in 1969 underneath, and the 1984 revision of the English NWT alongside.

		In the case of the Jehovah's Witnesses, one of those revelations is the New World Translation of the Bible.

		A translation of the Bible that has been produced and distributed by the Jehovah's Witnesses since 1950, it being a scholarly and over-all literal translation of the Bible.
		The book Translating the Bible even calls it "a work of genius." On page 30 the article goes on to say, "Luther's Bible was criticised because it was produced by a man who exposed the shortcomings of the traditional religion of his day.

		In the translation of these verses, the Watch Tower translators also inserted the word "other," not present in the Greek text, on the ground that it is implied in the context, owing to the comparison made by Jesus.
		In order to translate it "the releasing," the form would have to be the participle construction (analusas), which when used with the word "wish" or "desire" denotes "a great longing" or "purpose" and must be rendered "to depart" or "to unloose".
		The New World Translators, therefore, on the basis of those texts where it is acceptable to render parousia "presence," conclude that it must be acceptable in all texts.

		Since my name is used and our Manual Grammar of the Greek New Testament is quoted on page 744 to seek to justify their translation I am making this statement.
		The translation suggested in our Grammar for the disputed passage is, "the Word was deity." Moffatt's rendering is "the Word was divine." William's translation is, "the Word was God Himself." Each translation reflects the dominant idea in the Greek.
		But of all the scholars in the world, as far as we know, none have translated this verse as Jehovah's Witnesses have.

		The translators used what J.B. Rotherham had translated in 1893, in modern speech, and changed the readings in scores of passages to state what Jehovah's Witnesses believe and teach.
		However the Watchtower society was losing so may new converts because of the word "worship" (only God gets worshipped) that they did the typically dishonorable thing and chose the obscure unknown word "obeisance" to complete the deception of new converts.
