Michael Cooke, the editor in chief of The Daily News in New York, announced his resignation yesterday after less than a year at the paper.
When he joined The Daily News, he filled a position that had been vacant since the previous editor in chief, Edward Kosner, retired in October 2003.
The circulation of the Daily News dropped during his tenure to 688,584 this September from 729,124 in September 2003, according to the publisher's estimates of average paid weekday circulation provided by the Audit Bureau of Circulations.
