To me it seems that the Warriors merely provide a team for many rugby league fans in NZ to follow up close and allows fans who support other teams to cheer on their team.
And while the Warriors do have an obligation to develop the game (and are doing so through the Auckland Lions etc) Kiwi rugby league was around before the Warriors and will still be there if they go.
