The National Olympic Team are already in New Zealand, days ahead before the start of the Oceania Football Confederation Group B qualification tournament on 16 January 2004.
The technical department of the Vanuatu Football Federation has seen the draw as one that would give Vanuatu a better chance at reaching the second stage where they will have to play the winners of Group B which comprises Australia, Fiji, Solomon Islands, Papua New Guinea and Samoa.
However the performance of the Tongan team at the 2003 South Pacific Games in Fiji had given the indication that there have been significant development activities in most OFC member islands nations.
