  Newark & Sherwood Primary Care Trust
As from the 1 October 2006 Newark & Sherwood Primary Care Trust will be disestablished as an independent NHS Trust.
From this date the functions and responsibilities of the former Newark & Sherwood PCT will be assumed by the newly established Nottinghamshire County Teaching Primary Care Trust (tPCT).
The Newark & Sherwood PCT site is therefore no longer updated but the information currently shown is accurate as at 30 September 2006.

Six out of ten people in Newark and Sherwood fear they will be the victims of crime in the next six months, a survey has revealed.
They were chosen at random by Newark and Sherwood District Council, which distributed the questionnaire on behalf of Nottinghamshire County Council, the police and local crime and disorder partnerships.
Around 7% of respondents in Newark and Sherwood said they were very worried about being victims of crime in the next six months, with a further 57% saying they were a little worried.

Deposed Newark and Sherwood District Council leader Mrs Gill Dawn has resigned her Labour membership saying the party has consistently denied her justice.
Sherwood MP Mr Paddy Tipping told the Advertiser this week that Labour would not use the candidate selection exercise to get rid of people who did not wholly accept New Labour ideas.
Mrs Dawn had planned to give her resignation letter to chairman of the Newark town branch of the Labour Party Mr Dave Barton to be read out at the branch meeting at the Vine Hotel on Tuesday.

Viewed from the west bank of the River Trent Newark Castle looks very impressive, but if you cross the river and enter the park that surrounds the castle you discover that the walls are just a facade.

The Newark and Sherwood district is located centrally within the county of Nottinghamshire and is one of the largest districts.
The principle towns and villages in the area include Lowdham and Farndon in the south, Clipston, Bilsthorpe and Blidworth in the west, Newark and Collingham in the east and Edwinstwow, Broughton and Sutton on Trent in the north.

The First Contact scheme, will see Nottinghamshire County Council, Newark and Sherwood District Council, Nottinghamshire Fire and Rescue Service and other partners joining forces to ensure that older people receive everything they need to keep them safe and independent in their own homes.
