Newberry College is a liberal-arts college of the Evangelical Lutheran Church in America located on an ninety acre (324,000 m²) campus in Newberry, South Carolina.
Newberry's heritage began in 1828 at the annual meeting of the Lutheran Synod in South Carolina and Adjacent States--nearly 30 years before it was chartered as a college by the State of South Carolina.
The College is a member of the National Collegiate Athletic Association (Division II) and the South Atlantic Conference (SAC).

NEWBERRY- Thanks to an agreement reached with the NCAA, Newberry College will play host to a first-round game in the NCAA Division II football playoffs, school president Dr. Mitchell M. Zais announced Sunday.
The college has informed the NCAA that it has initiated the process of examining its nickname with the goal of resolving its dispute with the NCAA by the fall of 2008.
The NCAA has lifted the hosting ban and the college's athletic teams will be able to use the Indian nickname and all current imagery until the fall of 2008.
