The Newport Casino, home of the International Tennis Hall of Fame, is a structural masterpiece, which stands today as one of the finest examples of Victorian shingle-style architecture in the world.
The Newport Casino was commissioned in 1880 by James Gordon Bennett, who hired the architectural firm of McKim, Mead and White to design and build the facility.
McKim, Mead and White was the premier architectural firm of the late 19th and early 20th century, and the Newport Casino was one of the firm's earliest projects.
