Datacom, New Zealand's biggest Kiwi-owned IT services firm, has posted another year of record profits and revenues with sales topping $300 million for the first time.
Datacom doesn't appear to have missed a beat during the past 10 years, having increased its revenues at an annual compound growth rate of 12 per cent.

News Datacom developed the Videocrypt system for Sky together with Adi Shamir of the Weitzmann Institute of Science in Israel, who had already been working on ciphers for the company, and Thomson.
News Datacom has now signed a deal with NTL (formerly the Independent Broadcasting Authority's research laboratory) and the US telecommunications company Comstream to develop what Murdoch asserts 'will be the common digital satellite broadcasting system for Europe, Asia and the Americas'.
News Datacom had worked with Thomson on a digital version for use with DirecTV, the digital satellite TV service being planned by aerospace company Hughes in the US.

Abe Peled says that their cards are inferior because its quite obvious from that statement that he SAW the code on their card, otherwise how could anyone say it is inferior.

If this indeed was a plausible deniability operation by Sky and News Datacom then it is more than certain that News Datacom Research in Israel were not consulted on the code release.
Unless Sky and News Datacom can switch in some alternate and more secure card addressing encryption the 09 card issue is effectively dead.
If the 09 codes were indeed sold by Sky and News Datacom in an attempt to sting the pirates, then it could be argued that the Phoenix was a development of the codes that were purchased by the pirates and therefore the program is not Sky's property.

NO UNITED Kingdom tax has been paid by News Datacom, the British parent of the Israeli company in Rupert Murdoch's empire that was raided by tax officials on Sunday-despite annual gross profits of more than £10m.
The board of the Israeli subsidiary, News Datacom Research, stated: "The company has filed all required tax returns and paid all applicable taxes." The statement referred to "A continuing campaign by former employees who have been sued in the UK by News Datacom."
Accounts for the London-based News Datacom were filed last month showing turnover in the year June 1995 rising from £29m to £40m with gross profit increasing from £8.1m to £10.5m.
