News of the World (album) - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
News of the World is a Queen album released on October 28, 1977.
The album is considered one of Queen's strongest albums, albeit a bit of an abrupt departure from the band's progressive mysticism into a much more spontaneous recording.
The album was once again produced by the band members themselves and was recorded at Sarm West and Wessex Studios, England and co-produced and engineered by Mike Stone.

Queen Network - News Of The World
Apparently, the Frank Kelly FreasÍ work for News Of The World was originated in RogerÍs mind, an avid reader of science fiction books and magazines and itÍs a tongue in cheek reference to a British newspaper of the same name, well known for its sensationalistic approach.
However, by the time News Of The World was released, it was a dark period in ArgentinaÍs history and the Government was into the practice of ridiculously banning almost everything, including some famous Tangos.
Even when I might prefer other albums that Queen made in the seventies, News Of the World, somehow remains a very important one, maybe only second to A Night At The Opera when it comes to the bandÍs musical relevance in that decade...

Along with the change in the UK's social climate in the late 1970's, the raw, stark and passionate fury of a new generation of music was inevitably thriving and infiltrating the musical mainstream, tearing down the dominant progressive rock veil with a frenzied attack of buzz-saw guitars.
News of the World, released 1st November, 1977, documents this transition.
News of the World is a milestone in Queen's career, a testament to their staying power in the rock and roll hierarchy and their last truly great album of the 1970's.

News of the World is one of the last truly great Queen albums until Innuendo in 1991.
News of the World is the album that pulled them away from their classic sound and began their slow downfall continued through Jazz (still a pretty good album), The Game (not bad but very pop sounding), and went right into the absolutely terrible Hotspace, the low point of their carreer.

 News of the World
It's an album that lacks the same vision and artistic pretenses (as little as there was) as Queen did in their previous albums!
Although, this album does have two songs that Queen is very famous for (or infamous for penning).
However, the album's score is severely dragged down by the presence of the barely listenable "Get Down, Make Love," and a handful of totally unexciting tracks.

The second side of the album starts with the Freddie Mercury composition Get Down Make Love not really brilliant, but it was mostly written to be played live, with a light-orchestra and weird sound-effects from Brian on guitar and Freddie's vocals.
News Of The World is a complete change of style from Queen, and thus it's hard to compare it with other Queen albums, the only other album I can compare it too is the following Jazz.
A good album, but not as consistantly good as previous efforts, the first couple and the last couple of songs are great, but between that there's too much lesser songs.

When it was released in 1977, News of the World seemed at loggerheads with a music world that had moved beyond Queen's operatic pomprock and on to punk.
That's a tribute to the staying power of the music, but News of the World offers proof that, even as Queen maintained their position as rock & roll royalty, they continued to evolve and react to the times.
After the success of A Night At The Opera and A Day At The Races Queen kept on bringing in the hit albums in 1977 with News Of The World.
