News satire - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
News satire, sometimes alternately called Fake news, is a type of satire presented in a format typical of mainstream journalism.
News satire has been around almost as long as what we consider journalism, but it is particularly popular on the web, where it is relatively easy to mimic a credible news source and stories may achieve wide distribution from nearly any site.
News satire has been prevalent on television since the 1960s, when it enjoyed a renaissance in the UK with the Satire Boom, led by such luminaries as Peter Cook, Alan Bennett, Jonathan Miller, David Frost, Eleanor Bron and Dudley Moore and the television programme That Was The Week That Was.

Satire - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
Satire is a literary technique of writing or art which exposes the follies of its subject (for example, individuals, organizations, or states) to ridicule, often as an intended means of provoking or preventing change.
The burlesque form of satire can also be segregated into two distinct categories: High burlesque, or taking subject matter which is crude in nature and treating it in a lofty style, or low burlesque, taking subject matter traditionally dealt with in an epic or poetic fashion and degrading it.
Satire and parody are also popular forms of expression on the internet; one of the most prominent examples is the news satire site The Onion.

Gelf Magazine: Does Google News Have a Sense of Humor?
On Dec. 1 of last year, the top spot (in the upper left-hand corner) on Google News was taken by the Axis of Logic, reporting that, upon his visit to Canada, George Bush had been arrested and charged with war crimes (see the screenshot at left).
(Google News places the word ‘satire’ in parentheses next to the name of the publications it labels as such.) We also talked with some publications that were once labeled as satire and are no longer, as well as some that publish satire but remain free of that label (like the Axis of Logic).
According to research done by Newsknife, which determines the relevancy of news organizations based on their placement within Google News (down the 10 sub-pages of listings for individual news items), only one satire site, Ridiculopathy, was ranked for relevance, and it came in at number 525 overall.

DeadBrain - Plans for new Bush statue to replace Saddam ruin in Baghdad
According to an anonymous source, when the President heard that a new monument had already been erected he insisted on removing it and replacing it with the glorious image of him holding an M16 assault rifle and standing on top of the former Iraqi dictator.
The final piece was altered slightly from original drafts after officials told Mr Bush they thought it would be inappropriate to convey the President also standing on top of the leaders of Iran, Saudi Arabia, Libya and France.
President Bush responded to this by immediately ordering an opinion poll using a new electronic voting system, which concluded that 100% of Americans think a statue of the President in Baghdad is 'not just a good, but a fantastic idea'.
