This means that most of the disk space and bandwidth used in providing a full news feed is normally wasted on receiving and storing thousands of groups and messages that are not being read by anyone on your server at a given time.
The DNews News Server Softwares unique Dynamic Sucking Feed option is able to save this waste of resources by dynamically monitoring and automatically reflecting users' changing reading habits in the groups that it is downloading and maintaining on your server.
News server Software Efficiency - Because of the DNews News servers advanced design, with the same resources, it will generally support several times more users per server than traditional NNTP news server software.

News server - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
News servers normally connect with multiple peers, with the redundancy helping to spread loads and ensure that articles are not lost.
A reader server is one that makes the articles available in the hierarchical disk directory format originated by B News 2.10, or offers the NNTP or IMAP commands, for use by newsreaders.
Among the operators and users of commercial news servers, common concerns are the continually increasing storage and network capacity requirements and their effects.

Intermediate News Servers For clusters of machines with many users (as might be the case in a university or large industrial environment), an intermediate server might be used.
If this attempt were unsuccessful, indicating a failed server, an installation might choose to either deny news access, or to permit connection to the central "master" news server.
Since most installations will want the client news program to allow the user to prepare his message using some sort of text editor, and transmit it to the server for posting only after it is composed, the client program should take note of the herald message that greeted it when the connection was first established.

How News servers work, and how to find one
Articles can be passed in both directions, and the servers compare article message-id headers to see whether they have any new news for each other.
An NNTP server manager decides which parts of the news group hierarchy he will take, and finds another server administrator who is willing to feed news to him: his "news feed".
NNTP servers will only allow local clients to access them directly, as to allow everyone in the world to access the same NNTP server would destroy this efficiency, and could lead to disastrous loads on the net and on that server.

 News Server Problems?
A News Server collects as many messages as they can from all the messages that are posted from all over the world on the entire UseNet network, and they store copies of them on their own disk files for viewing by their customers.
If you want to know more about signing up for a commercial news server and/or want to do a comparison of commercial news servers to see which is best for you, go to http://www.yahoo.com and look under Computers.
If your news server only gives you a "sample" of all the messages posted to a newsgroup, you definitely need a better news server or you won't be able to get all the parts to multiple-part messages.

Intel unveils new blade server standard - Hardware - News - ZDNet Asia
The new set of design specifications--available today as draft specifications--will help to simplify and lower the cost of research and development (R&D) of blade server products, built specifically for the small and midsize business (SMB) space, Buddenbaum explained.
He noted that the new specifications can be used in "a variety of applications and market segments", such as personal clusters, technical computing clusters and network data centers.
However, Buddenbaum said, while the new specifications are based on similar technologies as the current platform--used by major players such as HP and IBM--some design tradeoffs can be expected as they were developed with SMBs in mind.

The company is pitching the program as a way for companies to reduce the number of servers they have to maintain, noting that companies typically use just a fraction of their servers' capacity.
Virtual Server comes in two flavors--a standard edition that supports up to four processors and sells for $499 per server and an enterprise edition that supports up to 32 processors and sells for $999.
While Microsoft is today creating Virtual Server as a separate product, analysts expect basic virtualization capabilities to soon be part of Windows and also be built into the chips that power servers.
