Newsvine is a website consisting of a community-driven newsonomy.
Newsvine, Inc. is a privately-held company based in Seattle, Washington.
The primary difference between Newsvine and Digg is that Newsvine offers saved links, as does Digg, but also offers full articles written by users and wire content from the AP and ESPN.

Newsvine seems to be an interesting product with an interesting interface to support a interesting mission, but sadly, there’s one thing missing from it: interesting people.
Newsvine is a site that gets the news from AP (Associate Press) and without any human filters, almost like Google News, categorises it to the appropriate category.
Newsvine is currently in invite-only but they say they’ll open the door up soon.

Another reason why I love Newsvine is you don’t have to leave the site to read most articles (only seeded articles are not within the site); the articles appear within the familiar Newsvine interface.
For the people that left their email for Newsvine invites, I sent you all an invite and then removed your email address from the comments to protect you from spam.
Newsvine does not have a rating system, and I think this is a good thing.

Earlier, I was deep in discussion with several of the Newsvine creators, including Josh, Nick (the VC) and another designer hiding behind the group 'Newsvine Team' username.
The genius of this is that what you write is seeded, and instantly referenceable, you tag your items and they can be searched and cross-referenced in an instant, and if you wish to turn your User Column into a blog proper, you can do that.
Watch out Digg and del.icio.us, Newsvine ain't no Web 2.0-buzzword-special, it's plan and simple a great idea, and it's coming after all the competition with a vengeance.

I’ve recently been the happy recipient of an invite for Newsvine, (thanks, Chris J!) a still closed beta venture, which is something I’ll simply have to start a new sentence for to describe.
Newsvine is not just another website aggregating news and commentary from all over the web (like Digg or Slashdot), it is a huge community driven read, create and seed news resource.
What’s left for me is to tell you that everyone who signs up gets their own subdomain (mine is, you guessed it gibarian.newsvine.com).

Newsvine is a nice Web 2.0 site that gives you access to AP news feeds that can be accessed by topic.
Then, similar to digg, members have the ability to vote for news stories of interest, and comment on the stories.

Someone else on Newsvine requested the option to automatically post on their blog and Newsvine simultaneously.
I doubt it was meant to be a means of improving a person’s blog status and attract more visitors for individual bloggers.
Personally, I’m really excited about Newsvine and I would really hate to see the beautiful thing they’ve got going here to turn into just another Digg pile.

Newsvine is still in private beta (although if you can find a member you can ask for an invite) but it should go public in the next couple of weeks.
Newsvine is exactly what news junkies and writers need right now, and I wouldn't have known about it or been able to get involved if it weren't for TWiT.

I think that’s just great and I encourage anyone who is interested in Newsvine APIs to post their requests to the official Newsvine Blog.
Even though Newsvine is not a competitor of Gather, I do admit that I feel very fortunate (and humbled) to have most of the press, the blogosphere, and the public writing so positively about us right now.
Newsvine was also the #2 search term on Technorati all day yesterday, ahead of subjects like Ariel Sharon and Apple.

I am glad I did, as it contained a special link that would allow me access to the Beta of Newsvine, a news site that has been highly talked about even though it was said to be in the “quiet period”.
One interesting thing to note for those that have not been added to the Newsvine Beta, is that there is an invite button, where inside I have twenty invites I can send out to those that I think are deserving, or friends of mine that want to have an account.
If no one referred you to Newsvine, the other 10% will be used to offset the cost of bandwidth, upkeep, and improvements to the site.

As long as most information I gather from other (news)sites is shattered all over the net, Newsvine won’t help me out.
