Newsworld International (NWI) was a cable TV news channel broadcasting in the United States, whose content contained a mix of Canadian Broadcasting Corporation (CBC) and other international newscasts.
In the late-1990s, Newsworld International's Sunday night newscast at 6PM ET was seen on CBC-owned CBET in Windsor, Ontario, as a Detroit-market replacement for American programming at that time on the CBC.
The Toronto offices of Newsworld International (located at the Canadian Broadcasting Centre) closed as a result of NWI's termination.

Gore's investor group purchased Newsworld International from Vivendi Universal Entertainment for an undisclosed sum, according to the Associated Press.
The new network will not be "liberal, Democratic, or political," Gore insisted, but an independent voice targeting people between 18 and 34 "who want to learn about the world in a voice they recognize and a view they recognize as their own."
Newsworld is a 24-hour channel with news content produced by the Canadian Broadcasting Corp. It reaches about 14 million households through DirecTV, Time Warner and Comcast, according to Vivendi.

 CBC to shut down Newsworld International
The CBC told staff at Newsworld International (NWI) Thursday that it will shut it down on July 31, bringing an end to an 11-year-long venture that brought CBC journalism into the homes of many American TV viewers.
Newsworld International is a 24-hour global news and information channel that is available in almost 20 million homes in the U.S. through satellite-based distribution services like DirecTV.
Burman said it became clear during those discussions that the people running the U.S. satellite and cable distribution world think there are already too many news and information channels and that there's no market for another international service.
