		The deed transfer records of Newton County and Jasper County show that on January 9, 1980 a deed was recorded for the transfer of about 23,000 acres from Merlin Karlock to The Prudential Insurance Company of America.
		It is interesting that the biggest and most notorious water battles in Newton County history happened on the same property owned by Lemuel Milk and A. Kent in the 1800s and by The Prudential in the 1900s.
		On March 12, 1999, a deed was recorded in the Newton County recorder’s office transferring about 9,000 acres from Prudential to Arizona Maricopa Associates L.L.C. This is the land where the mammoth dairy farms are located.
