Moore was still in London in May 1915 when he was selected for the appointment as commander of a new AIF Depot at Weymouth, England by the High Commissioner to the United Kingdom, Sir George Reid.

Newton Moore's government laid the foundations of the Wheatbelt and brought the State into line with the rest of Australia through an Income and Land tax, despite opposition from the conservative Legislative Council.
During the First World War, as a Major General, he commanded the AIF troops in based in Britain and in 1918 was invited by the Conservative Party to stand for the House of Commons in the seat formerly occupied by ex-Australian Prime Minister George Reid.
From 1918 until 1932 Moore represented the Conservatives in Parliament for several London seats, and was a company director with interests in WA and in Canada.

Moore's doctoral dissertation was entitled Extensions of Certain Theorems of Clifford and Cayley in the Geometry of n Dimensions and this led to the award of his doctorate in 1885.
Moore spent the year in Germany, going first to Göttingen where he spent the summer of 1885 studying the German language, but spending most of the academic year 1885-86 attending lectures by Kronecker and Weierstrass at the University of Berlin.
Moore's first main areas of research, which he studied from about 1892 to 1900, were algebra and groups where he proved in 1893 that every finite field is a Galois field.

Newton, the county seat of Newton County, is at the junction of State Highway 87 and U.S. Highway 190, fifty miles northeast of Beaumont in the north central section of the county.
Continued agricultural strength in the form of cotton, cattle, and hog raising; the presence of the county government; and the discovery of oil in the region apparently reduced the impact of the subsequent gradual decline in the number of timber-related manufactures.
Newton was incorporated in 1935 and had 886 inhabitants in 1940; by 1980 the figure stood at 1,620.

I suspect that Abner Moore, Sr is in Wilson Co, Tn in 1830 and that he also came from Patrick Co, VA because there is an Abner Moore of the correct age living next to John A. Corn in Wilson Co in 1830.

Originally from Iredell County, Moore attended Statesville Senior High School and received his bachelor’s degree in economics from Catawba College in 1967 and his MBA from East Tennessee State in 1969.
Moore taught school for a year and a half before beginning his career with the Department of Correction in 1971 as a correctional officer at Iredell Correctional Center.
Moore and his wife, Jean, have two daughters, 21-year-old Erika who is a student at Duke University, and 20-year-old Monika who is a Morehead scholar at the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill.

In a series of publications, Newton (Newton, 1986; 1987; 1988; Newton & Dunbar, 1994) attempted to explain the distribution of infanticide, and concluded that the behavior was not linearly related to population density/crowding, but instead was a function of the proportion of single-male troops in a population.
