Combined with the 8% received by the celebrity driven UK Independence Party, this means that well over 10% of the British population, who could actually be bothered to go out and vote, supported parties of the far right.

The remaining Woodley ward of Coronation, together with Sonning etc is in The Maidenhead constituency of Theresa May MP, the remaining Earley wards are in the Wokingham Constituency of John Redwood MP and everything north of Caversham outside Reading Borough is in the Henley constituency of Michael Heseltine MP.

In Newtown itself a large number of flats and houses are left lying empty, many derelict, anti social crime has rocketed and by day and night youth gangs have an increasingly free reign on the streets.
If Newtown was to be anything near habitable the sense of community would have to be rediscovered and the problems confronted head on.
The police appeared to be containing and simultaneously ignoring the damage inflicted on the community of Newtown for the greater good, in this case a quiet life and the subjugation of a potentially troublesome community, with people too scared to leave their homes, let alone getting organised and demanding answers to exacting questions.

European legislation to lift the beef ban came into force on 2 May. The equivalent legislation in Scotland comes into force on 3 May, meaning that from today Scottish beef can be exported to other countries in the EU for the first time in 10 years.
Euan Robson, Liberal Democrat MSP for Roxburgh and Berwickshire, has written to Scottish Borders Council’s Planning Department to request that the objections to housing development at Newtown St Boswells and the supermarket proposals for Kelso are the subject of a public local enquiry in the context of the Finalised Local Plan.
The MSP has met representatives of Newtown Says No and has heard the case for limited development and renovation of public spaces and facilities.
