Ngongotaha is a town on the western shores of Lake Rotorua in New Zealand's North Island.
The Ngongotaha Stream, which flows through the village centre and onward into Lake Rotorua is one of the most heavily fished areas in Aotearoa New Zealand.
In 2005 an iniative was commenced in Ngongotaha declaring it a 'smack free town', with the local population striving to banish corporal punishment.

Ngongotaha second-rower Darren Hewitt was also sinbinned late in the final moments of the second-half after also falling foul with the referee.

The Ngongotaha is the main spawning stream for Rotorua and to a limited extent for Lake Rotoiti.
